Report: Arsenal interested in bringing £100m Brazil striker to the Emirates this summer

4 Min Read

Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea are all likely to be busy in the summer transfer window as they look to strengthen their ranks.

All three clubs will be eager to bolster their firepower ahead of next season, and forwards are likely to be high in demand by most of the Premier League’s top teams.

For instance, Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens has been linked with Arsenal and Chelsea. Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s Rodrygo is said to be a target for Arsenal and Liverpool.

Now, all three clubs are reported to have set their sights on a £100million striker who has represented Brazil at international level – and they’re all fairly familiar with him.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea eyeing Brighton’s Joao Pedro

Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea are all mulling over a potential move for Brighton & Hove Albion striker Joao Pedro this summer, according to The Telegraph.

The report claims that Arsenal are long-term admirers of the Brazil international and have explored the possibility of signing him in previous windows.

Pedro is said to be on the Gunners’ shortlist along with the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko, Liam Delap and Nico Williams.

TBR Football’s Graeme Bailey confirmed earlier this year that all three clubs, plus Newcastle United, were keen on Pedro.

TBR Football sources also understand that Brighton have priced Pedro at £100million.

What Joao Pedro could bring to the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea

When it comes to the top Premier League players, one important factor is how quickly they are expected to take to life in the English top flight.

Pedro is certainly not an unknown quality, as he has more than proven himself in the Premier League.

The 23-year-old has made 70 appearances for Brighton and registered 30 goals and 10 assists, with 10 goals and seven assists this term.

Former Arsenal midfielder Adrian Clarke previously wrote an in-depth scouting report about Pedro on the Premier League website.

“Joao Pedro has the versatility to operate in different areas of the forward line,” he began.

“He is quick and bright with his movement, possesses an eye for a pass and can also dribble past players with ease.

“Since joining Brighton though, it is his intuition which has improved the most.

“Joao Pedro has become a natural poacher having developed a real eye for where the ball might fall inside the box.”

Clarke added: “There is no doubt that Joao Pedro has one of the coolest temperaments among Premier League forwards.

“He consistently displays an ice-cool nerve from the penalty spot, scoring all but one of his five spot-kicks in the Premier League.

“And this season he is translating that quality into his open-play finishing too.”
