‘No doubt’: Jamie Carragher thinks £80m star is ready to leave West Ham after interest from Liverpool

West Ham have had a tough season with the club currently sitting 15th in the table with 40 points.

They made a poor start under Julen Lopetegui, who was eventually sacked and replaced by Graham Potter in January.

But the performances have not improved under the former Brighton man, mounting pressure on Potter.

Despite the pressure, the club reportedly intends to back Potter, with West Ham expected to undergo a massive rebuild in the summer.

TBR Football understands that the Hammers are hoping to bring in up to six new players, which will require a number of sales to generate funds and free up squad space.

Among the players expected to be sold for big money is Mohammed Kudus.

Jamie Carragher backs Mohammed Kudus to play for a top club

Jamie Carragher has praised Kudus as a player and stated that he is good enough to be playing for a top club.

He also believes Kudus’ dipped form this season is one of the main reasons behind West Ham’s poor performances.

Speaking on Sky Sports before West Ham’s match on Sunday, he said:

“There is no doubt he’s a quality player that should be playing for a team closer to the top of the table than the bottom of the table.

“But one of the reasons West Ham are where they are this season is because Mohammed Kudus has not showed the form that he showed last season. Last season he was fantastic. He just hasn’t looked the same player this season.

” I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a change there. West Ham need the money. Other clubs will think this is an off-season for him and last season was the real Kudus so we get that type of player.”

Liverpool have a long-standing interest in Mohammed Kudus

Arsenal have been most recently linked with a move for Kudus. Kudus has a release clause of just over £80m, however, TBR Football has reported that Arsenal will not pay more than £50m for Kudus.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have had a long-standing interest in the former Ajax star. The interest dates back to Jurgen Klopp’s time, with Kudus often seen as a long-term replacement to Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool were linked with a move for Kudus last summer. And they were linked with him again six months later.

Reports claimed that Liverpool were keeping tabs on Kudus during the January transfer window as well.

And the interest may still be there, with Arne Slot admitting Kudus can play for the Reds.

While he may be good enough to play for a top club like Liverpool and Arsenal, TBR Football has claimed that Kudus is likely to be sold to a Saudi club.
