Newcastle United clashed heads with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium earlier this evening as they looked to secure a good result on the road in the Premier League. The Magpies made a solid start to the contest and managed to get to the half-time interval with a goalless scoreline.
Declan Rice scored the opening goal with a good strike in the 55th minute. Eddie Howe’s men failed to come up with a response and suffered a hard-fought 1-0 loss away from home.
Let’s take a look at how each Newcastle United player fared during the clash against the Gunners.
GK: Nick Pope – 6.5/10
He made a few important saves at the back but failed to keep a clean sheet.
CB: Fabian Schar – 7.5/10
Schar made a lot of crucial clearances on the defensive third of the pitch.
CB: Sven Botman – 6.5/10
Botman kept a good defensive shape at the back but was replaced after the hour mark.
CB: Dan Burn – 7/10
He performed his defensive duties well but it was not enough this evening.
RM: Jacob Murphy – 6.5/10

CM: Bruno Guimaraes – 7/10
Guimaraes managed to shine at times on both ends of the field and was tidy with his passing.
CM: Sandro Tonali – 6.5/10
He tried his best to make life difficult for the opposition and made two key chances going forward.
LM: Tino Livramento – 7/10
Livramento caused some headaches for the Arsenal defenders and earned the ball back a few times for his team.
RAM: Harvey Barnes – 6/10
He wasted a great chance to equalise in the second half.
LAM: Anthony Gordon – 5.5/10
Gordon gave away the ball in the lead-up to Rice’s goal. He never looked like he would score this evening.

He added some energy to Howe’s midfield.
