Exclusive: How much Liverpool are actually paying to sign Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth

4 Min Read

TBR Football can exclusively reveal that Liverpool have opened talks to sign Milos Kerkez.

There is a feeling of conviction about the AFC Bournemouth left-back’s quality at Anfield, as Liverpool believe Kerkez is the real deal and one who could be a huge asset for them in the present and the future.

In fairness to Liverpool, the Hungarian international has had a season worthy of such rave reviews, emerging as one of the Premier League’s standout full-backs this campaign.

Milos Kerkez has been one of Bournemouth’s most important players as well this season, with his seemingly boundless energy, wand of a left foot and defensive doggedness making him a complete left-back.

Kerkez is inspired by Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai and now a fresh update has emerged about his possible move to Arne Slot’s side.

Liverpool set to pay £40 million to sign Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez

TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has been informed that personal terms between Liverpool and Kerkez are advanced as the Premier League champions are in direct conversations with Bournemouth.

Kerkez has been Liverpool’s dream target to bolster the left-back position for a while but initially, Andoni Iraola’s side were demanding £50 million to let go of the former AZ Alkmaar defender.

However, it looks much more likely for Liverpool to shell a £40 million fee out to sign Kerkez — who has two goals and six assists in all competitions this season.

STARTS 38

Sources have told TBR Football that a deal could be struck for £45 million in its entirety.

Unlike Dean Huijsen, who will join Real Madrid, Kerkez does not have a release clause in his contract.

Where Kerkez could rank among Liverpool’s most expensive defenders

Even Real Madrid scouted Kerkez but it seems like the Reds could get their hands on him.

Kerkez is a huge fan of Andy Robertson, which is perhaps one of the many reasons why he seemingly fancies a move to Liverpool.

If Richard Hughes ends up securing the youngster’s services for £40 million, he would become their second-most expensive defensive signing.

LIVERPOOL’S MOST EXPENSIVE DEFENDERS FEE
VIRGIL VAN DIJK £75M
MILOS KERKEZ (IF HE SIGNS FOR LIVERPOOL) £40M
IBRAHIMA KONATE £35M
DEJAN LOVREN £20M
MAMADOU SAKHO £18M

However, a player of Kerkez’s fee is expected to cost a fair amount, which is why Liverpool seem open to paying the sum.

Based on how impressive the Vrbas-born speedster has been in the Premier League, it would be no surprise if he is considered a bargain of an addition if he does make his way to Merseyside.
