Bayer Leverkusen will be gutted to lose Jeremie Frimpong, who has been such an important player on the pitch and in the dressing room.

Liverpool are closing in on their first summer signing, with a deal for Frimpong now close to being agreed with the German club.

Liverpool are expected to pay Frimpong’s £30m release clause and the Dutch defender would become the Reds’ replacement for the departing Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Leverkusen know they are losing a key player for their team, but also a person who has become really influential in their dressing room.

Jeremie Frimpong is believed to be a very popular figure in the Bayer Leverkusen dressing room, according to Bundesliga journalist Seb Stafford-Bloor.

The defender is understood to be a very positive person and this could be great news for the dressing room at Liverpool.

TBR Football understands that Frimpong has agreed terms with Liverpool with the player close to being their first signing as Premier League champions.

Frimpong will already be familiar with several Liverpool players, including Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch from the Dutch national team.

Liverpool believe £30m for Frimpong is a great deal and they’re right; not only are they getting a great player, but also a great character.

What’s next for Liverpool after Jeremie Frimpong deal?

Arne Slot’s team are far from done with four other positions being targeted, according to Florian Plettenberg.

Liverpool have started talks for Milos Kerkez as they look to bring in strong competition for Andrew Robertson. The Hungarian is expected to cost around £40 million.

Meanwhile, the Reds are also keen to sign a central defender, a number ten and a winger as they look to really back their Dutch title-winning manager.

For the number ten role, Liverpool are keen on Florian Wirtz and are not giving up on signing the German international.
