Omar Marmoush scored a contender for goal of the season against Bournemouth, however, Pep Guardiola could be seen frantically coaching him after the match.
Pep Guardiola has become renowned for speaking to players after matches, usually offering advice, and after the win over Bournemouth, he could be seen in deep conversation with the Egyptian forward.
Marmoush, whom City signed for £59m, announced himself to the Etihad Stadium with a sensational strike to place the former Premier League champions on the verge of Champions League qualification.
But the club’s supporters are now worried about what their manager might have planned for the 26-year-old following his moment of brilliance.
Man City concerned about Pep Guardiola’s message to Omar Marmoush
Manchester City fans are worried that Pep Guardiola might attempt to coach the joy out of Omar Marmoush’s play style after his incredible goal against Bournemouth. The Spanish coach has been criticised for making players Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva less enjoyable to watch by shoehorning them into his possession-based system.
One moment of magic from the 26-year-old and City quickly made light work of Bournemouth, which otherwise should have been a tricky task. However, the former Frankfurt man showed just why City paid nearly £60 million to sign him in January.
During the match, City supporters took to X to share their concerns about Guardiola’s plans for Marmoush and are hoping he does not try to ruin the forward’s ability to express himself.
One City fan said: “Omar Marmoush is the only player in our squad that tells Pep, ‘forget your tactics, I’m playing how I want to play’.”
Another claimed: “Give Pep a bit more time with Marmoush and he will get that nonsense out of his game. Can’t be shooting from there when you can turn and play a sideways pass.”
There was yet more praise for Marmoush’s goal: “Omar Marmoush seems to be the only player in Man City who’s telling Pep, ‘I’m ignoring your system, I’ll play how I want to play’. This goal should be the Goal of the season.”
Finally, another fan stated: “Marmoush going to City was a mistake, they can’t play to his strengths unless Pep moves on.”
Omar Marmoush’s brilliant performance vs Bournemouth
Marmoush really impressed playing on the left side for City and looked like their most threatening player for most of the match.
