Journalist: Arsenal join the race for two-time Champions League winner that Carlo Ancelotti described as ‘fantastic’

Arsenal have a busy transfer window ahead of them as their search for another Premier League title continues, although they may have found a player to help their chances.

Mikel Arteta’s side have gone another season without a trophy after an agonising campaign that saw them reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.

However, Arsenal have their eyes firmly set on this summer’s transfer window and negotiations are already taking place, with Arteta knowing what has to change if they are to get their hands on some silverware.

Scoring more goals is certainly high up on the agenda, and the Gunners may have targeted a player that will bring just that.

Arsenal considering Rodrygo transfer

Real Madrid winger Rodrygo is a player linked with a move away and according to Florian Plettenberg at Sky Germany, Arsenal are seriously considering making a move.

A deal for the 24-year-old is said to be difficult but the deal is on as Arsenal consider all of their options, meaning the Brazilian could be the first arrival through the door for the North London side this summer.

Primarily a right winger, Rodrygo can be deployed anywhere along the front three, making his versatility an attractive trait for the Gunners who have lacked attacking depth this season.

Carlo Ancelotti was full of praise for Rodrygo

As Carlo Ancelotti’s tenure at Real Madrid comes to an end, Rodrygo could follow suit, with his current boss describing him as “fantastic” earlier on in the season.

When asked if the Brazilian was underrated after a Champions League game against rivals Atletico Madrid, Ancelotti said: “Not for us. He’s helped us a lot to win two Champions Leagues in the last three years.

“He is a fantastic player and he can add fantastic quality to the team and we are really pleased.”

Rodrygo has netted 13 times and assisted a further 10 for Madrid this season and, although only 24, can bring a great deal of experience to Arsenal and help them win a major trophy that Arteta is in desperate need of.
