The Leverkusen defender is headed to the German champions.

Voilà! Bayern Munich is following up bad news with good as Bayer Leverkusen and German men’s national team center-back Jonathan Tah is reportedly set to join on a free transfer this summer.

Tah’s addition comes on the heels of this morning’s breaking news that the Bavarians were set to miss out on Florian Wirtz to Liverpool FC.

Fabrizio Romano broke the news:

❤️ EXCLUSIVE: Jonathan Tah to Bayern, here we go!

The German defender has agreed deal, Bayer Leverkusen confirm they have been informed.

Bayer Leverkusen now wait for Bayern to make contact to discuss fee for Tah to be at the FIFA Club World Cup.

New defender for Bayern

Further reporting comes from Sky Sport DE, as captured by @iMiaSanMia:

Tah will sign a 4-year contract until 2029. Medical next week before the start of the Nations League Final Four [@Plettigoal, @Sky_Marlon89]

Jonathan Tah has given Bayern the official ‘yes’ to a move to Munich. Deal is done. Bayern will now hold talks with Leverkusen to release the defender early for the Club World Cup [@Plettigoal]

This should mark the end of FC Barcelona’s pursuit of Tah. Now, one summer after Bayern’s initial pursuit came to nothing, Tah will join up with the Bavarians after all. Perhaps the ability of Bayern to definitely register him in the squad didn’t hurt.

It will be an interesting summer for Bayern’s back line. Will Kim Min-jae stay? Stay tuned…
