Liverpool Are Close To Recruiting This Bournemouth Left-Back: Good Signing For Slot?

3 Min Read

On Tuesday morning, The Athletic‘s David Ornstein revealed that Liverpool are close to recruiting Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez. Ornstein said,

‘Meetings are expected between Bournemouth, Liverpool and Milos Kerkez’s representatives this week.

‘There is a very good chance that agreements are reached for the left-back to transfer to Anfield.

‘Bournemouth are lining up Rennes left-back Adrien Truffert to replace him, but will only complete that transfer if a deal for Kerkez is done.’

Kerkez’s Impressive Form In The Premier League

Kerkez enjoyed an impressive campaign at the English club after he put in a string of impressive displays for them on the left flank. The Hungarian talent was involved in 41 matches for the Cherries last season, netting a couple of goals and earning six assists in all competitions.

The 21-year-old made 52 tackles, 38 blocks and 45 interceptions for Bournemouth in the Premier League. He even distributed the ball relatively well based on his pass completion rate of 75.8% in the English first division (stats via fbref.com).

Is Kerkez A Good Signing For Liverpool Boss Arne Slot?

Kerkez is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when the opposition are on the offensive and is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet.

The Hungarian sensation can strike the ball with power from long range and can create some inviting chances for his teammates from the left flank. He mainly operates as a left-back but can also fill in as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so.

Kerkez would enhance the quality of Liverpool head coach Arne Slot’s backline in the long run. He has what it takes to compete with Andrew Robertson for a regular first-team spot at Anfield next season.

At 21, Kerkez still has a lot of room to grow as a footballer. Hence, he would be an excellent signing for the Reds in the long run. He already knows the Premier League well and won’t take much time to settle into life at the Merseyside club. All in all, Liverpool should focus on going all out to get a deal over the line for him soon.
