Ibrahima Konate warns Mohamed Salah to ‘be careful’ with injury message in Ramadan photo

Mohamed Salah’s Ramadan preparations saw the Liverpool ace sprucing up his home with festive decorations. Yet teammate Ibrahima Konate couldn’t resist issuing a light-hearted warning.

Captured teetering on his sofa to hang banners in his living room, Konate had a moment of concern, playfully advising Salah on social media to “be careful” to avoid injury that could dent the Reds’ title charge.

Salah, fresh from netting against Manchester City, has been a key figure in establishing Liverpool’s commanding 13-point lead at the top of the Premier League table. His ambitions this year also include lifting the Champions League and Carabao Cup trophies.

The road to silverware sees Liverpool just one Newcastle clash away from Carabao Cup glory at Wembley and chasing a second European crown since 2019. If either is to go the Reds’ way, Salah is likely to be central.

Already boasting three final appearances with the Reds and revered as a favorite for May’s grand European finale in Munich, Salah’s exceptional form this season has him vying for another Golden Boot and leading assists, crafting what could be one of Anfield’s most unforgettable campaigns.

“You can look at it in both ways,” Arne Slot said recently when asked if that might make tying him down to a new contract more difficult. “You can say the better he does the more expensive he might become.

“And if he did really worse we would have second thoughts to extend his contract. For everyone, it is best that he brings in the performances he does now; maybe only for the one who has to pay him it is not the best!

“For everyone else it is the best because if you want to play at this club you need to be at his level otherwise you are almost useless to play at this club. We only need players that are at the top of their game because this is one of the best, or the best, club in the world to play for. He needs to have these performances for him to play here and hopefully to extend here.”

Amid ongoing speculation about his future at Liverpool, with his contract set to expire in a few months, Salah’s exceptional performances have led to discussions about him being a leading Ballon d’Or contender.

Former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge recently commented: “We’re talking Ballon d’Or now. If we’re not talking Ballon d’Or with Mohamed Salah then it’s getting out of hand. We have to start putting him that conversation now and saying, I don’t even know if he’s had a top five vote or a top three vote yet.”

Liverpool.com says: Salah picked up an injury that really derailed him last season but that has just not been the case this time around. So far, he has stayed fit and played pretty much every minute that has been important across the Premier League and the Champions League.
