Chelsea are set to continue their pursuit of European football for the next season as they prepare to take on a struggling Leicester City at Stamford Bridge. The Blues have had an inconsistent Premier League campaign so far, but they’re still within reach of the top four.
With 46 points from their 27 games, including 13 victories and seven draws, Enzo Maresca’s squad may not be in the title race by the end of the 2024/25 season, but they’re certainly aiming to secure a spot in either the Champions League or Europa League next term. With two wins from their last five league matches, Chelsea will be looking to make a strong push in their remaining 11 fixtures to secure a top-five finish and a return to Europe’s premier club competition.
On the other hand, Leicester City are in a completely different situation, hoping to avoid dropping back into the Championship. Since taking over from Steve Cooper in December, Ruud van Nistelrooy has struggled to change the team’s fortunes, managing just two victories from his 14 games in charge.
Despite cruising through the Championship last season under Maresca, Leicester’s first season back in the Premier League without their former manager – who left for Chelsea in the summer – has been marked by struggles against the division’s more established teams.
Leicester City’s current struggles are highlighted by a four-match losing streak in the league, failing to score even once. This includes 4-0 defeats to both Everton and Brentford. As they prepare for their clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, here’s everything you need to know about following the match – including why it won’t be televised live across the UK.

Why isn’t Chelsea vs Leicester City on TV in the UK?
Sky Sports has chosen not to broadcast the clash. Instead, they’ll be showing Tottenham Hotspur’s clash with Bournemouth in North London at the same time.
UK fans can catch video highlights on Sky Sports’ YouTube channel shortly after the final whistle, though, or wait for Match of the Day 2 on Sunday evening or extended highlights of the game on Sky Sports the same evening.
BBC Radio 5 Live will provide build-up and live audio coverage of the game, as well as Manchester United’s clash with Arsenal at Old Trafford straight after.
Starting from the next season, all Sunday 2 pm matches will be broadcasted on UK TV thanks to a new rights deal with the Premier League. However, the traditional 3 pm blackout on Saturday afternoons is set to continue for the foreseeable future.
