Cole Palmer’s perfect penalty record came to an end in Chelsea’s game against Leicester City.

Cole Palmer finally missed a penalty for the first time in his professional career in Chelsea’s visit of Leicester City on Sunday.

The 22-year-old is one of the most reliable penalty takers around, displaying a remarkable calmness from 12 yards and boasting a perfect record for club and country.

However, it came to an end on Stamford Bridge. After Chelsea were awarded a spot-kick in the first half, Palmer stepped up and hit the ball low and to the left of Mads Hermansen.

However, the Dane produced a fine stop to deny Palmer and push the ball past the past.

The cameras spotted Palmer grinning afterwards as he rushed over to the take the resulting corner following the surprise miss.

The miss is Palmer’s first since he rattled the crossbar in an FA Youth Cup final shoot-out for former club Manchester City against Liverpool in 2019.
