Owen Hargreaves says one Arsenal player had his first ever bad game for the club vs Man Utd

Arsenal dropped more points this weekend as they drew 1-1 with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Arsenal were tipped to beat United at the weekend, but they only managed to come away with a point against Ruben Amorim’s side.

The title race was over a couple of weeks ago in the eyes of some, but after more dropped points here, even the most optimistic Arsenal fan has to concede defeat on that front.

Speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, Owen Hargreaves has been reviewing this performance from Arsenal, and he said they weren’t good enough in the final third.

Interestingly, Hargreaves said that while he thinks Ethan Nwaneri is an amazing player, this is the first time he’s seen the teenager have a bad game for the Gunners.

Ethan Nwaneri had his first bad game for Arsenal

Hargreaves spoke about Nwaneri’s performance against United.

The pundit says that this was Nwaneri’s first bad game for Arsenal, claiming that the north London club have actually overachieved in recent times.

“I do think they were shocked by that goal because they were so dominant Arsenal,” Hargreaves said.

“I’m with Wrighty, they played nicely up until the box, but if you think you can go to Old Trafford with, Nwaneri is an amazing player, but he’s only 17, that’s the first bad game I’ve seen him have, and Merino as a number nine. In a way, I think they’ve overachieved being second without a striker.

“I think Mikel has done a brilliant job, but you need more than one striker, they don’t even have a striker.”

Ethan Nwaneri stats vs Manchester United

Hargreaves says that this was Nwaneri’s first bad game for Arsenal, and he’s not wrong.

Indeed, the attacker was wholly ineffective against United, and he was subbed off after an hour.

Nwaneri has earned huge praise in recent weeks, but against United, he wasn’t on his game.

The stats show just how ineffective Nwaneri was against the Red Devils.

Nwaneri wasn’t great against United, but it’s very much unfair to scapegoat a 17-year-old.

Indeed, at his age, it’s easy to understand why the youngster would wilt under the pressure of playing at Old Trafford.

Nwaneri wasn’t amazing against United, but he stil has a lot of potential and is a very exciting prospect.
