Report: Arsenal have changed their mind about £43m striker and now made contact to sign him

4 Min Read

Once Andrea Berta is appointed by Arsenal as their new sporting director, he will have the unenviable task of handpicking the striker who is best-placed to lead them to major silverware.

Berta would have a huge responsibility on his hands as the next number nine that Arsenal sign needs to be one who can compete with the Premier League’s crème de la crème of goalscorers such as Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah.

Otherwise, Mikel Arteta’s hopes of lifting football’s biggest prizes at the Emirates Stadium could end up becoming nothing more than a pipe dream as Manchester City and Liverpool have shown that without a prolific goal-getter, it is nigh-on impossible task to make history.

Andrea Berta shares Arsenal’s admiration for Alexander Isak and Benjamin Sesko. Berta would like to reunite with Matheus Cunha in North London as well but the Brazilian recently signed a contract extension until 2029.

Another marksman who Arsenal have been linked with on numerous instances is Moise Kean.

Arsenal make contact to sign striker Moise Kean

Kean, who is most known to Premier League fans for his disappointing spell at Everton has gone on to become a hit at Fiorentina.

TBR Football exclusively revealed that Kean was offered to Arsenal in January.

However, the North Londoners decided not to pursue the Italian international’s signature.

Arsenal decided not to sign Kean because they had doubts over his track record as it is only during the ongoing season where the former Juventus forward has really come to life. But TuttoMercatoWeb have claimed that there is a now a twist in the tale with Arsenal establishing contact with Kean to sign him.

However, the Gunners are not the only English club interested in the 25-year-old’s signature, with West Ham and Newcastle also making contact. Kean is available to sign for €52 million (£43.7 million) in the summer, which is the value of his release clause.

Moise Kean stats compared to Alexander Isak and Benjamin Sesko this season

Mikel Arteta wishes to sign Alexander Isak over any other striker.

But Arsenal are the likeliest to sign Benjamin Sesko.

But now that Kean seems to be an Arsenal target as well, it would be best to see how he compares to both Isak and Sesko.

STATS IN ALL COMPETITIONS MOISE KEAN ALEXANDER ISAK BENJAMIN SESKO
STARTS 31 32 33
GOALS 20 23 17
ASSISTS 3 5 6

Isak has the most goals (23) and Sesko has the most assists (six) out of the three but the fact that Kean has outscored the latter and is three goals behind the former despite having started one less game is very impressive. Arsenal might well be impressed by how much the ex-Paris Saint-Germain goalscorer has kicked on in Fiorentina, as he is thriving despite them being eighth in Serie A.
