Liverpool ‘sends scouts’ to watch Man Utd target as staggering $129M price tag emerges

Liverpool has reportedly sent scouts to watch Southampton’s Tyler Dibling, as a host of Premier League clubs are planning to try and sign the talented teenager.

In what has been a bleak campaign for the Saints – who have amassed just nine points this term – Dibling has been the star man. The attacker has played 25 times in the Premier League and, while scoring just two goals, has impressed with his dribbling and confidence at such a young age.

It has alerted several of the Premier League’s top sides, with Liverpool among them. The Daily Mail claims the Reds sent scouts to watch the Southampton star represent England Under-19s in a recent match against Turkey.

The outlet adds Dibling was “one of the players on their agenda” along with Sunderland’s Chris Rigg.

There is set to be a “multi-team scramble” this summer to sign Dibling, with Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United all interested in the player. While Southampton is expected to ask for a “hefty fee”, the report adds it will not be in such a strong bargaining position when its relegartion is confirmed.

It comes as the Times states Southampton will request a fee of more than £100million ($129M) for the player, with RB Leipzig and Manchester City also mentioned as clubs who are tracking the 19-year-old, along with Spurs and United. That price tag is said to have frustrated the interested sides. The Times also claims Dibling is “one of the most sought after talents in this summer’s transfer window”.

He predominantly plays from the right wing but can also operate centrally and up front. Liverpool could be in the market for attacking resources this summer, especially if Mohamed Salah departs. The Egyptian’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season and no new deal has yet emerged for the 32-year-old.

Reports have also indicated that Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Federico Chiesa could be allowed to leave this summer, although Liverpool would certainly not sanction the sale of the majority of its attackers.

Dibling came through Southampton’s youth ranks, but did briefly leave the club to join Chelsea in 2022. The winger made his debut last season and has played 35 senior games for the Saints.
