The. Hits. Keep. Coming.

Bayern Munich’s injury crisis is only getting worse.

Center-back Kim Min-jae had been dealing with Achilles issues and as a result was held out of action for the Republic of Korea during the last international break. Accordingly, the 28-year-old was reportedly slated to be rested for Saturday’s match against St. Pauli, but he was pressed into action following the likely season-ending injury to Dayot Upamecano.

Unfortunately…Kim was apparently ill, and what should have been another good reason to rest turned into an exacerbation of his — and the team’s — woes.

From a report in Tz, via @iMiaSanMia:

The initial plan for Kim Min-jae was to get a rest against St. Pauli following his recent Achilles tendon problems, but he had to play because there were no options. Kim played despite having a cold and now he is suffering from back problems because of the cough [@mano_bonke, @tzmuenchen]

Fortunately, Bayern does have other cover at the center-back positions, although one of them, Hiroki Itō, became one of the top options at left-back following Alphonso Davies’ devastating injury also during the international period.

Oh, and Itō is out for the season too now. And top youth team candidate Tarek Buchmann is still returning from shoulder surgery.

Stay healthy, Eric Dier and Josip Stanišić. We’re down to the 1-deep here in Bavaria.
