Report: Bayern Munich’s interest in Gent’s top talent Konstantinos Karetsas is very real

3 Min Read

It would be cool to have a Greek player playing for Bayern, would it not?

Bayern Munich’s search to fresh its’ attacking personnel is a story we all know about and can likely skip over. The fresher news is the number and caliber of candidates that the Bavarians are targeting. There have been plenty of reports that Bayern are looking to sign top, established forwards. But what about a 17-year-old attacking midfielder?

The 17-year-old in question would be Konstantinos Karetsas, who Florian Plettenberg reports Bayern are interested in:

FC Bayern are interested in Konstantinos Karetsas. They have gathered all the information on the 17-y/o Genk top talent. Bayern continue to monitor the situation, but signing an attacking midfielder is not currently at the top of their priority list. Thanks to Thorsten Fink – former Bayern player and now Genk head coach – the connections to Munich are strong.

It makes sense that Bayern would not prioritize Karetsas’ signing. Amid the extension of Jamal Musiala’s contract, the obvious interest in Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, the ongoing contract discussions with Bayern legend Thomas Müller and the emerging talent of Paul Wanner (and the hundreds of talented attacking midfielders in the academy), would the signing of another attacking midfielder really make a lot of sense?
