Bayern’s #7 is about to hit 7 years at the club.
What would Gnabry have expected his time at Bayern Munich to be like when he finally joined the first team in 2018? Gnabry’s time at Bayern was always coming, given Bayern had a hand in his move from Arsenal FC to Werder Bremen in 2016. But would he have expected to stay 7 years at Bayern? Not at all.
“Seven years in Munich – which I didn’t expect when I first came here – is a long time,” Gnabry said in a recent interview with Manuel Bonke, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “The city has become like my second home. I moved around a lot in my youth, then went to Arsenal. Then to Bremen, Hoffenheim, and then Munich. So, I was used to moving around a lot as far as my football career was concerned. That’s why seven years feels like a very long time – but a very nice one.”
But this home is not a retirement home. Bayern is one of the most competitive clubs in the world and requires all its’ players to remain focused and hungry. Gnabry knows this very well: “The most important thing is to always believe in yourself. Each of us is aware of our own strengths,” Germany’s #10 said, again captured by @iMiaSanMia. “Bayern is one of the absolute top clubs in the world. That’s why there will always be tough competition here – and you have to face it. And that’s what I’m doing. I’m still having a lot of fun in Munich and with the team.”
