No time to slow down now.
Bayern Munich is in pole position to finish as this year’s Bundesliga champions…but after a few recent setbacks, the race is far from over. One more slip and the holders, Bayer Leverkusen, could be right back in the hunt.
Bayern players know this all too well.
“We’re in a good position,” striker Harry Kane said in recent comments captured by the Bundesliga website (via @iMiaSanMia). “I think if you’d have given us this position 20-odd games ago, I think we would have taken it. We’ve had a lot of good moments in the season. Obviously, the last few weeks have been difficult in different ways and it was nice to get the win at home on the weekend [St. Pauli].
“We’re in a good spot. But still, I know a lot of people assume we’re just going to romp home and take it without any ups or downs. But with my experiences, I know that it’s tough to finish all the way and every game from now to the end is pretty much a cup final for us.”
Can the Bavarians hold off the late challenge and stay sharp to regain the Bundesliga crown?
