Liverpool transfer news: Reds ‘make contact’ over potential deal for Trent Alexander-Arnold replacement

3 Min Read

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Freiburg defender Kilian Sildillia this summer.

The Reds are currently cantering towards the top-tier crown despite their maiden away defeat of the Premier League campaign at Fulham on Sunday.

Nevertheless, Liverpool are in pole position to secure their 20th English crown, sitting pretty at the top of the table and a good distance from Arsenal in second.

However, there are growing concerns around the future of Arne Slot‘s XI, with academy graduate Trent Alexander-Arnold seemingly set for a switch this summer.

It is known that Real Madrid are huge admirers of the right-back, who could transfer to the European champions without a transfer fee in June.

Liverpool want Freiburg man Sildillia?

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool have drawn up a shortlist containing several replacements for Alexander-Arnold ahead of the summer window.

The report states that one of the names on that specific list is Freiburg star Sildillia, who has impressed massively in the Bundesliga this term.

At just 22 years of age, the full-back has established himself as a regular starter for the German outfit, playing 16 matches in the top flight, scoring twice.

As well as Slot’s winning machine, there is also interest from Roberto De Zerbi‘s Marseille for the Frenchman ahead of the summer trading point.

Heading into the final year of his deal at Freiburg, it is understood that Sildillia could be available for as little as £12m during the off-season.

Liverpool’s right-back situation

With Alexander-Arnold currently on the sidelines due to injury, Liverpool are getting an insight into how life could be without their Merseyside hero.

Conor Bradley has also occupied a spot in the Reds medical room in recent times, meaning that Curtis Jones has been forced to operate at right-back.

A makeshift Liverpool backline has visibly struggled over the past few weeks, losing to PSG, Newcastle United and most recently Fulham in West London on Sunday.
