Meanwhile, Mac Allister Snr also shared insights into transfer discussions with ex-Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp before his son’s switch to Anfield, revealing a particularly memorable moment that left the translator taken aback after he offered some frank advice to the German in the wake of Liverpool’s 5-2 loss to Real Madrid.
“The first meeting was with me to explain what he saw in Alexis and why he wanted him,” Mac Allister Snr disclosed during an interview with Fernando Niembro on Picado TV, as reported by Bolavip. “We had a very nice conversation there.
“There’s a very powerful anecdote, but I can’t share it because it involves bad language, and I’ve never told it before.
“When we were talking in that first meeting, I don’t speak English, and there was a translator who works at the club.
“He told me what I saw after losing 5-2 to Real Madrid, and I told him they had a major problem because the players have to understand that you mark the way you do it.

“The translator saw me and told me I couldn’t tell him that, and I told him to tell him because I was going to explain it to him. Then I told him in English, and Klopp asked me what I meant.
“I told him to get on top of you, grab you, push you, hug you, and that you can’t mark from two meters away, which is why they conceded five goals.
“He looked at me and told me I was right, that he was going to stick with that definition. That’s when we began to build a relationship with him.
“We met again, and he called Alexis to tell him he was happy, and so much so that he publicly acknowledged what Alexis is and the appreciation of a family that comes from football.
“When my children were seven years old, they watched football, and I think that upbringing helped them a little, but their most important upbringing was at Argentinos Juniors.”
