Mohamed Salah has signed a new contract at Liverpool Football Club.
After months of uncertainty, the Egyptian superstar has signed a new deal with the Reds despite Saudi Pro League clubs’ interest in Salah heading into the summer transfer window.
Salah will remain at Liverpool until 2027, reports The Guardian, which was a crucial bit of transfer business Arne Slot needed to see done ahead of the 2025/26 campaign as the winger has been crucial to the success of the Merseyside club this season.
Many were worried about how Liverpool would replace Salah had he departed Anfield and speaking after the news broke, Slot told the press how the club’s owners, FSG, got the deal done.

FSG’s role in new Liverpool contract for Mohamed Salah
Since his arrival, Slot has only seen Federico Chiesa added to his Liverpool squad and the Dutch coach has done a tremendous job with the Premier League leaders, despite the lack of spending.
Liverpool did try to sign Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi last summer; however, the lack of spending, in comparison to the Merseyside club’s Premier League rivals, is a criticism often thrown at FSG by fans of the Reds.
Speaking to the press on Friday after the announcement that Salah had signed a new contract with Liverpool, Slot revealed the role FSG played in the deal getting done.
“Richard (Hughes) and FSG and the club put a lot of effort into getting Mo to stay,” Slot said. “The effort mostly means money.”
This indicates that Salah’s new deal is earning the Egyptian superstar more than the £350,000 his last contract brought in each week.
Liverpool fans have waited a long time for FSG to start spending the money their rivals have and the American owners might have also done the same when it comes to their captain, Virgil van Dijk.
The latest on Virgil van Dijk’s Liverpool contract
In addition to Salah, Van Dijk is another key player whose Liverpool contract expires at the end of the season.
Many expected both stars to remain at Anfield and that looks to be the case as Fabrizio Romano reported on Friday morning that the Dutch star has agreed a new contract with Liverpool until 2027 and will put pen to paper very soon.
This is huge news for everyone associated with the Premier League leaders as Slot retains two of his most important stars, while FSG have shown the fans that they are willing to spend money to keep the Merseyside club on top.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to join Real Madrid this summer and if the American owners somehow turn that situation around, next season could be another good one for the Reds.
