Ipswich could be without as many as 11 players when they travel to Everton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Leif Davis was already one of those absentees, as he is suspended following the straight red card he picked up against Arsenal, and fellow full-back Ben Johnson will now join him on the sidelines after he was also given his marching orders during the 3-0 defeat to Newcastle United last week.
That could see former Everton defender Ben Godfrey drafted into the starting XI, with manager Kieran McKenna currently without Chiedozie Ogbene, Conor Townsend and Axel Tuanzebe due to injury.
Hamstring issues will keep Townsend and Tuanzebe sidelined, and the same problem will also see former Everton youth graduate Nathan Broadhead miss out on a return to Goodison Park, as he is one of many wide players currently sidelined.
Wes Burns, Sammie Szmodics and Jaden Philogene are also battling to return before the end of the season, while Kalvin Phillips may have played his last game for the club, as another setback is set to keep him out.
Alex Palmer will continue between the sticks with Arijanet Muric seeing a specialist over a shoulder injury, but despite all of those fitness concerns, Omari Hutchinson is set to return to the side here, after being an unused substitute at St James’ Park a week ago.
McKenna has kept talisman Liam Delap on the bench on occasion in recent weeks, but he started at Newcastle, and timed picking up his 10th booking of the season very well, as the cutoff point for a two-game suspension has since passed.
The benching of Delap could be to protect him from injury as the club are set to sell him for an handsome fee over the summer, and it is 50/50 whether he will get the nod here.
Ipswich Town possible starting lineup:
Palmer; O’Shea, Woolfenden, Burgess, Greaves, Godfrey; Hutchinson, Morsy, Cajuste, Clarke; Delap
