Liverpool scouts ‘watching players at 6 clubs’ as Arne Slot prepares for busy transfer window

Liverpool is watching players at RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt, Bournemouth, Ajax, Real Betis, and River Plate as it plans upgrades to the squad during the summer transfer window.

The Reds signed just one outfield player since Arne Slot arrived at the club last year but at least two players are expected to sign for the club this summer, and quite possibly one or two more.

Liverpool’s priorities are a new forward and a new left-back, with the club looking to upgrade on Darwin Nunez and Andy Robertson, while a new center-back and a new right-back could also be targeted. Liverpool expects there to be a strong market for Uruguayan forward Nunez this summer having rejected interest from several clubs in Saudi Arabia during the January window.

Liverpool is believed to also be considering its options at left-back, with a long-term successor to Robertson high on the agenda. Robertson turned 31 in March, while Kostas Tsimikas, who will also enter his 30s next season, has not shown enough to suggest he is capable of replacing the Scotland international as a first-team regular.

The Reds are believed to admire a number of Bournemouth players, with Milos Kerkez a possible left-back addition, Dean Huijsen a possible center-back addition, and Antoine Semenyo a possible attacking addition.

Kerkez and Huijsen have been heavily linked with Liverpool of late, but Chelsea is said to be leading the way to sign the latter. Semenyo is an interesting one as he primarily plays as a winger, and the Slot’s team is already well set on both flanks.

Scouts attended RB Leipzig’s Bundesliga game against Bayern Munich on Saturday, according to the Mail, with striker Benjamin Sesko and attacking midfielder Xavi Simons both on the agenda.

Sesko scored his 21st goal of the season in all competitions as Leipzig earned a 3-3 draw to delay Bayern’s title celebrations, and he is being considered as a possible replacement for Nunez.

Simons, meanwhile, has appeared 31 times in all competitions for Leipzig, scoring 10 goals and registering eight assists. His game time has been split between appearances in attacking midfield and on the left wing, but Liverpool is well stocked on the left flank, with the likes of Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo having both enjoyed good seasons.

Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike is also under consideration, as is young Ajax defender Jorrel Hato, while the Mail report also says that the club has watched players at Real Betis and River Plate in recent weeks.
