Arsenal fans have been reacting to the display of one of their players against Paris Saint-Germain as they crashed out of the Champions League in the French capital.

Mikel Arteta’s team’s season comes to an abrupt end as they were beaten 2-1 in Paris and 3-1 on aggregate as the French champions showed their class.

Fabian Ruiz netted a stunning goal to open the scoring before Achraf Hakimi put the tie to bed in the second-half with a third goal for Luis Enrique’s team.

After the match, the North London club’s supporters have decided they want one of their key players to be moved on following his latest display in the Champions League.

Arsenal fans don’t want Thomas Partey’s contract renewed

Arsenal fans have decided that they do not want Thomas Partey’s contract renewed at the end of the season when the midfielder’s current deal is due to expire.

Partey missed the first-leg against PSG due to suspension and there was hope that the Ghanaian’s presence in the midfield at the Parc Des Princes would make a big difference.

But in truth, that wasn’t really the case as PSG’s midfield trio proved too strong for the Gunners and the 31-year-old ended up struggling in the middle of the park.

There have been some suggestions that Arsenal are prepared to renew Partey’s contract, however, the club’s supporters are now hoping that won’t be the case.

Arsenal look set to sign Martin Zubimendi in the summer, which really could pave the way for the former Atletico Madrid player to be moved on.

In the aftermath of the defeat in France, Arsenal fans took to X to share their hope that the Gunners decide against renewing Partey’s contract.

One fan said: “The fact that we want to renew Partey instead of improving is just awful. We are playing for long throws in the Champions League semi-finals.”

Another added: “Once again, Partey costs us another goal. And yet, people want to keep him and renew his contract.”

There was yet more criticism aimed at Partey: “If we renew partey and have a bad summer, I don’t know if I can watch this team often anymore.”

Finally, another supporter added: “Renew Partey and I cut ties with this club forever. Two cheap goals conceded for no reason, man.”

Thomas Partey’s poor performance vs PSG

Partey managed to lose possession on 20 occasions in the second leg against PSG, and it was his header which allowed Fabian Ruiz to open the scoring.

The midfielder also won just two of his nine duels contested against the French champions on what was an evening to forget for him.

The French media were also unimpressed by Partey’s performance and their ratings were less than generous towards the Ghanaian international.
