Arsenal’s season is pretty much over after being knocked out of the Champions League on Wednesday evening.
Indeed, PSG beat Arsenal on Wednesday, and, a number of the Gunners’ players weren’t good enough on the night. Martin Odegaard was criticised heavily after the game, while Arsenal fans weren’t happy with Thomas Partey either.
It’s going to be another season of regrets for Arsenal, but at least they can rest easy knowing they’ve had a much better season than Tottenham, or can they?
The league table shows a huge discrepancy between Spurs and Arsenal, but, Tottenham may well be able to claim they’ve had a better season than the Gunners.

Tottenham may be in the bottom-half, but if they win the Europa League, they will secure Champions League qualification and have a trophy to show for it, while Arsenal will simply only have qualified for the Champions League.
Speaking on It’s Called Soccer, Gary Neville was asked whether Spurs will have had a better season than Arsenal if they win the Europa League, and he gave an interesting answer.
Gary Neville says Arsenal have had a better season than Tottenham regardless of Europa League
Neville was asked who would have had the best season between the two north London clubs if Tottenham win the Europa League.
The pundit says that, no matter what happens, Arsenal will have had a better season due to the fact they’re so far ahead of Spurs in the league.
“Okay, just very quick question. What if Tottenham win the Europa League and Arsenal finish third? Who’s had the best season?” Neville was asked.
“Do you know, Arsenal really, I mean, look, because the fact of the matter is you can’t finish wherever Tottenham are at this moment, 15th in the league and say that you’ve got it. When you’ve built your bread and butter around leagues and sort of finishing well in the league and being sort of that endurance race of a Premier League title or a league title, yeah, I don’t think we can start to diminish Arsenal’s achievements just because Tottenham have won a trophy,” Neville said.
“What a Europa League final it could be, by the way. That could, that is, that, that, that, I mean, look, they both got the job to finish up, but I think they will. I think United and Tottenham will do their jobs on Thursday.”
Lowest-placed Europa League-winning teams
Tottenham could be on course for their worst league finish in a generation, but, interestingly, they could also be on course for their first trophy in 17 years too.
Ange Postecoglou has made it clear how important the Europa League is, and while Bodo/Glimt’s pitch will provide a tough challenge, Spurs do stand a real chance here.
Tottenham will likely meet Manchester United in the final, and there could be some history made here.
Indeed, with Spurs and United so low down the Premier League, they could end up becoming the lowest-ranked domestic teams to ever win the Europa League or UEFA Cup.

Inter Milan are Champions League finalists right now, but back in 1994 they made some European history as they won the UEFA Cup while finishing 13th in Serie A.
With United and Spurs sat 15th and 16th respectively at the moment, some history could soon be made here.
