Tottenham are gearing up for a season-defining Europa League final after comfortably seeing off FK Bodo/Glimt with a 5–1 aggregate in the semi-finals.

Despite a poor domestic run that sees them drop to 16th in the Premier League, Spurs have remained composed in European competition, keeping their pursuit of silverware alive.

Manager Ange Postecoglou now has the chance to guide the club to their first European title in 41 years, and all eyes are on the players who have stepped up during this crucial stretch.

Among those is Yves Bissouma, whose impact has been particularly significant during the closing stages of the season.

Postecoglou reveals what he said to Yves Bissouma in a private chat

The Mali international has endured a challenging campaign, plagued by fitness issues and inconsistent form.

His poor form led to reports stating that Postecoglou has lost his patience with Bissouma, putting his future at the club in doubt.

TBR Football has even previously reported that Tottenham are actively working on offloading Bissouma.

But it seems he may have found his rhythm just when Spurs needed it most and the Australian manager has now revealed how his private chat with him is the reason behind his resurgence.

Speaking to the media ahead of the game against Crystal Palace this weekend, he said: “I spoke to him about a month ago. He was in and out of the team. I just had a feeling in my gut.

“I said: ‘Biss, we are going to need you at the crucial time. I don’t know when that is going to be but we are going to need you and if we get the best Biss we can do something special.’ He has delivered.

“Through that time he never put his head down and complained. He knew that he could be doing better and he wanted to push on. So I’m really proud of him and the way he has handled everything this year.”

Bissouma’s revival crucial for Europa League final

Bissouma delivered one of his best Tottenham performances in the first leg of the semi-final against Bodo/Glimt.

And he was at it again in the second leg against the Norwegian side, delivering an all-round performance, boasting an 88% passing accuracy, making seven ball recoveries, and offering a balanced presence in both defence and midfield.

With the final against Manchester United looming, Postecoglou will be relying on Bissouma to continue his strong run of form.

For Spurs, ending a turbulent campaign with European glory would mark a defining moment. Not only would it end their trophy drought, but it would also book them a spot in next season’s Champions League.
