Mischief everywhere…

Boys will be boys…

If you noticed an oddly placed cockatoo amid Bayern Munich’s championship celebration, well, there is a story behind that.

It appears that the trinket was on display at the Käfer restaurant, where the team watched Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-2 draw with SC Freiburg last week. Of course, that tie clinched the Meisterschale for the Bavarians and the boys decided to engage in a little mischief:

The cockatoo that featured in Bayern’s title celebration today was at the Käfer restaurant where the team celebrated the title last weekend. The players apparently liked it so much that they took it as a mascot, but nobody wanted to say who ‘stole’ it

• Musiala: “I’m seeing it for the first time”

• Urbig: “It definitely wasn’t me who stole it”

• Kompany: “We’ll give it back”

João Palhinha did not admit to any wrongdoing, but did acknowledge the cockatoo made an appearance at the training ground this week.

“I saw this thing on the training ground this week. We need to find out who took it. It doesn’t have a name yet. But it definitely has a resemblance to Danksi [assistant coach Aaron Danks],” Palhinha told Sky Sport journalist Kerry Hau (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

Joshua Kimmich, another prime suspect, denied his involvement in this exchange with a reporter (via @iMiaSanMia):

Joshua Kimmich on the cockatoo: “I have no idea where it came from [laughs]”

• We heard it was in the restaurant and someone from the team took it last weekend

Kimmich: “I don’t want to comment on that [laughs]”

Maybe…just maybe…Bayern Munich players were just fans of the old Aussie hit “Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport” by Rolf Harris, which featured these lyrics:

Keep me cockatoo cool, Curl

Keep me cockatoo cool

Ah, don’t go acting the fool, Curl

Just keep me cockatoo cool

All together now!

Tie me kangaroo down, sport

Tie me kangaroo down

Tie me kangaroo down, sport

Tie me kangaroo down

It was Urbig…we all know it was Urbig.

Editor’s Note: It was Musiala, it definitely was Musiala.
