This could throw a wrench into Bayern Munich’s plans…
According to a report from Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayer Leverkusen’s ownership group has given the club permission to sell start attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz. However, the fee cannot fall short of €150 million, which could be a problem for any of the potential suitors:
The Bayer group has given Leverkusen the green light to sell Florian Wirtz this summer with one condition – the fee has to be at least €150m. Wirtz will not be sold for anything less than that. Carro and Rolfes have full support of the company in this firm stance. It now remains to be seen whether Bayern are willing to pay that or wait for next summer where they can get the player for a lower fee with one year left on his contract. Wirtz has promised Bayern he’s willing to wait for next summer.
That number could potentially be an issue for Bayern Munich, but it is not out of the realm of possibility that the Bavarians pay it or that there is room for negotiation.
Not getting Wirtz this summer would be a letdown for Bayern Munich. Even with the assurance that Wirtz will move to Bayern Munich in 2026, getting the Germany international would be a massive boost to the attack for next season.
