Arsenal, Chelsea battling for £20m Valencia star ahead of summer transfer window?

3 Min Read

Arsenal and Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera this summer.

The Gunners are assured of a Champions League spot next season, however the Blues still have work to do in order to earn a place in UEFA’s elite club competition.

Enzo Maresca‘s men boosted their chances of a top-five finish last week, when a second-half Marc Cucurella goal was enough to beat Manchester United in the Premier League.

The West London outfit are still in the hunt for a continental trophy, facing off against La Liga side Real Betis in the final of the Conference League on Wednesday night.

Before that clash with the Spanish side, Chelsea conclude their domestic campaign with an all-important trip to top-five hopefuls Nottingham Forest.

Arsenal, Chelsea want Valencia man Mosquera?

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, two Premier League giants are circling around the talents of Valencia defender Mosquera ahead of the summer window.

The report claims that both Arsenal and Chelsea are keen on securing the signature of the 20-year-old ahead of the 2025-26 domestic season.

It is understood that Mosquera could be prized away from Mestalla this summer, with the Spain youth international valued at €25m (£20.9m).

With just the single year remaining on the centre-back’s contract, Valencia could decide that now is a sensible time to part ways with the player.

Playing 78 competitive matches over the past two seasons, the defender has cemented himself as a key first-team option for the La Liga club.

Who needs Mosquera the most?

Impressing in La Liga at such a young age, Mosquera could be set for the leap across the British Isles to the Premier League for the 2025-26 term.

Mikel Arteta‘s men are in the market for significant reinforcements at the back, with Poland international Jakub Kiwior potentially leaving this summer.

Across the English capital, Chelsea’s defence has been plagued with poor form and injury this term, and the arrival Mosquera would help improve the Blues’ options in those positions.
