Arsenal are interested in signing Rodrygo Goes from Real Madrid.
The Gunners are keen to strengthen their frontline this summer. All eyes are on a new striker, but a wide player is high up on the wish list as well.
A number of wingers have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium over the last few weeks, but Arsenal’s interest in Rodrygo has excited fans the most.
But, there is now a problem.
Arsenal are not prepared to meet Rodrygo’s wage demands
Rodrygo Goes has been a key player for Real Madrid for a few years now.
Yes, he is not as high-profile as superstars like Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe, but he has still produced a few magical moments in the famous white kit of the Spanish giants.
Andrea Berta has made contact with Real Madrid for Rodrygo, and talks have been underway to see if a deal can be struck.
Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed that ‘new talks’ took place on Friday, which is when Arsenal learned Rodrygo’s wage demands.
The Brazilian is said to be seeking an annual salary of €10 million net to leave Real Madrid this summer. However, Arsenal are not prepared to pay him so much.
Plettenberg said: “A move involving Rodrygo and Arsenal is proving to be very complicated.
“There have been new talks in recent hours. The biggest issue is his wage demands, reportedly around €10 million (£8.4m) net per year. Arsenal are not prepared to go that far.
“Rodrygo is willing to leave Real Madrid if the right offer comes in.”
Who are Arsenal’s targets if they can’t sign Rodrygo?
Rodrygo would be fantastic for Arsenal this summer.
The Brazilian is the game-changer they need, and his experience of delivering at the highest level could make a huge difference under Mikel Arteta.
However, if a move for Rodrygo does not materialise, the Gunners will have to switch their focus onto their other targets in that position.
Arsenal are big fans of Nico Williams, and the Spaniard would be an excellent addition for the North Londoners as well.
Jamie Gittens is another player Arsenal are considering, and he is an exciting option out wide too.
Recent reports have linked Ademola Lookman to the Gunners as well, who may not be as exciting as the other names, but he possesses Premier League experience.
