What will the wing position look like at Bayern Munich next season?

According to a report from kicker (as captured by @iMiaSanMia_GER), Bayern Munich has a clear preference — the club would rather keep Leroy Sané over Kingsley Coman.

The problem, though, is that Sané is a free agent, who is drawing interest from clubs like Arsenal FC, while Coman still has two more years on his deal and is a far less attractive figure in the transfer market:

Leroy Sané’s future after this season remains unclear. He would like to extend his expiring contract, even at a reduced salary. There are also powerful decision-makers within the club who would like to see Sané remain in the squad and would rather sell Coman instead.

BFW Analysis

It still feels like this situation plays out one of two ways:

  • Sané re-ups with Bayern Munich, the club has trouble selling Coman and Serge Gnabry, and all three players are back for next season.
  • Bayern Munich realizes it just needs changes and tries to unload Sané, Coman, and Gnabry one-by-one to completely refresh the wing position.

Sure, it could work out to be somewhere in the middle (maybe some silly club will meet Bayern Munich’s demands for Coman and Gnabry), but right now, things are very iffy on what exactly will have happen with the trio of wingers.
